Fundraising

100% Commitment

Donations to the Erb's Palsy Group directly support families and members through various initiatives. Funds help produce our quarterly newsletter, The Erb’s Blerb, which is sent to over 1,400 members. They also support our Family Fun Days, offering children activities like rock climbing and archery with qualified instructors. Additionally, donations fund subsidizsed training events for healthcare practitioners, improving understanding and treatment of Erb's Palsy. Operational costs, such as internet provision, stationery, and postage, are covered as well, ensuring the smooth running of our charity. We also provide a small discretionary fund to assist families with travel costs for hospital visits. Our supporters are vital to our success, enabling us to offer these comprehensive services.

What we support

Our approach is based on three important priorities:

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We invest in building strong community networks, ensuring families affected by Erb's Palsy have access to support groups and community events that foster connection and shared experiences.

DIRECTING YOU TO SPECIALIST CARE

We work with the UKs leading specialists and will help you work out where to go to get the best possible care.

EDUCATION AND AWARENESS

We support educational initiatives and awareness campaigns to inform the public and healthcare providers about Erb's Palsy. This includes producing resources, newsletters, and organising training events.

Health Care Practitioner Training

We conduct a specialised Training Event for Health Care Practitioners to address the lack of training around Erb's Palsy in traditional health care settings. Many practitioners have not received specific training on this condition, leaving them unsure of how to provide appropriate support and treatment. Our Gold Standard training is offered at highly subsidised rates for NHS staff, making it accessible despite the often high costs of professional development. By providing high-caliber training at reduced prices, we aim to enhance understanding and treatment of Erb's Palsy, benefiting both individuals with the condition and the wider community.

Support Our Cause with Your Donation

Your generous donations enable us to provide essential support, education, and advocacy for families affected by Erb's Palsy. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant impact.

A Tribute to Tim Dyde

Tim Dyde, a lawyer with Tozers, was a beloved supporter of our group who passed away unexpectedly in October 2014. Tim provided invaluable legal assistance to many families in our group and formed personal connections with numerous members. To honor his memory and the profound impact he had, we established the Tim Dyde Fund for Gifted Individuals with donations from group members, Tim’s family, friends, and colleagues.

With the support of Tim's family, we are pleased to launch this fund to assist gifted individuals with Erb's Palsy in achieving their goals in sports, arts, or music. Available to those aged 12-25 who have been recognized for their talents, the fund offers financial support for necessary expenses such as equipment, travel, and competition fees. Applications can be submitted by post, email, or via our website, where further details and eligibility criteria are provided. This fund not only commemorates Tim's enthusiasm for sports and music but also aims to inspire more pioneering individuals like Rachael Latham and Joe Hughes.

Fun-Filled Family Days

We use some of the funds raised to organise our exciting Family Fun Days, creating memorable experiences for children and their families. These events feature a variety of activities such as rock climbing, archery, fencing, and trampolining, all conducted in a safe environment with qualified instructors. The instructors are skilled in adapting activities to accommodate the unique abilities of each child, encouraging them to reach their full potential despite their disability. These days are not just about fun; they offer invaluable opportunities for children to build confidence, try new things, and develop skills in a supportive setting. The communal atmosphere helps reduce feelings of isolation, as families realise they are part of a larger, supportive network. By participating in these activities, children and their families gain strength and encouragement from one another, contributing to a positive and uplifting experience for everyone involved.

The Rest

Operational Support

Donations are crucial for covering the essential operational costs that keep our charity running smoothly. These funds are used for necessities such as internet provision, stationery, information booklets, and postage. With no paid staff, every penny raised and donated goes directly towards offering our services to both families and healthcare practitioners, ensuring our community receives the best support possible.

Travel Assistance Fund

We also maintain a small discretionary fund to assist families with travel costs for hospital visits. For those not eligible for NHS travel support, we provide small grants to help cover these expenses, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent families from accessing necessary medical care.
